It was so great working with Tatiana and Yadi :) They were precious at the pre-shoot as we went through her INCREDIBLE closet of greatness! And then at the shoot - we ended at the lake, but umm, there was a rain storm just a few days before... Tatiana - YOU ROCK! You braved that awful ground like a PRO! ;)

So Tatiana, what's your favorite movie: Father of the Bride or 500 Days of Summer! I have seen them both dozens of times. Love them!

-Where are you heading after HS? After high school, my goal is to attend the University of South Carolina to major in International Business. I want to travel the world! *LOVE*

-What do you want to be when you grow up? When I grow up, I would love to work for an international clothing or cosmetics company, traveling the world in my spare time!

-Best accomplishment in high school? I believe that my best accomplishment in high school was becoming very involved with the administration and my peers. I love my school and my community and I wouldn't change it for anything!

-Any advice for 2013 seniors? My advice to the 2013 seniors would be to take each day at a time, don't try to rush anything! Try to get the best grades that you can, apply to colleges early, and cherish the last year of high school!

To say that Audrey is in love with her horse Reva is an real UNDERSTATEMENT. Everyone should be able to see her talk about her horse. She smiles, she giggles, she bites her lip - it is just the most precious bond I have seen in such a long time - it is almost like walking into the life of the movie Flicka. :)

She is on the drumline for McKinney Boyd High School.

She is so sweet and down to earth, it was so great working with her! :)

We even woke up WAAAAAY early to do a focused shoot on her and Reva....

And then spent the afternoon at their preferred on-location site and had.a.BLAST! :)

Of course - you can't forget the mom/daughter pic - A TOTAL REQUIREMENT when you do your senior pics with Captured Whispers.

2011 Family Christmas Portrait Season is OPEN! :)

Ok - seriously - Texas.summers.are.SOOOOO.HOTTTTTT! 100+ degrees for over 30 DAYS, really?!

I think it gets a little worse every year... but alas it is almost over ....*ahhh* do you know what that means?

It means cool morning, crisp air, crunchy leaves and fall senior & family picture season!!!

ALSO - I wanted to introduce you to Captured Whispers Photography's newest addition ;)

She arrived just in time for family picture season :)

She is also introducing a new location for family pictres - Tioga, TX - it is about 50 minutes away from McKinney - but TOTALLY WORTH IT! :)

Time to share a SECRET! :)

One that we are INCREDIBLY EXCITED ABOUT! :)

The Dickey's are going on a 3 week trip... that we really think is the beginning to the next piece of our journey :)

We for most of September we will be in..... WYOMING! :) Random fact: Did you know Wyoming is the least populated state in USA? Yeah, go figure.. ;) Anyhoo... so it is us, nature, family and there is a purpose... ;)

Luke is going to be building an earthship. I know, right?! JUST THE NAME - makes me feel like I am walking on to Close Encounters of the Third Kind... but it is NOTHING LIKE THAT, promise! ;)

It is a home made out of recycled material and a practice of living "off the grid" - using water from the rain, producing your own electricity with the wind and sun - all sorts of greatness! :)

And what will me and the kiddos be doing? Well, I do plan to document the build as much as possible - like when we drop him off and pick him up, but the rest of the time we are exploring as MUCH of Wyoming as we can! :)

So, why it's a secret, not really sure. We just kind of wanted to stay quiet about it til it was a FOR SURE - and it finally IS! :) *YAY* :)

So, every year I do a personal project, just for my own heart's stirrings. (is that even a real phrase?) ;)
And it is always ballerina's - there is just so much spoken in their grace and beauty.
This year I was blessed to have one within my 2012 Captured Whispers senior models a ballerina - and she was soooo breath-taking! :) *THANKS AGAIN J* :)

it all started as a sweet whisper in my heart ...

.."there is something special about this years senior model shoot. ...I promise as soon as I know - yall will be the next to know" :) I said this with a smile as each model joined our 2012 Senior model family.

And about 10 days before our March 5th shoot date - *BAM* - I just knew EXACTLY what we were doing and what we were not doing this year.

We were not just taking pretty pictures of pretty girls, not going for the edgy almost grown up look, not going for lots of makeup and hair styles....we were going to do something totally DIFFERENT.

We were telling a story. A story of true beauty - of beauty that never fades and no matter what the world thinks the LORD is still enraptured in us! :)

So, all the sudden I knew the song, the look, the colors of what the shoot was to look like, but I am sooooo not the stager and had no clue where to begin - so I did what I know how to do - I put together a shoot collage sketch book w/ drawings, words, color swatches anything that could help get the vision out of my head and into real life :) side note - .... this is before I had heard of Pinterest - *LOVE IT*.

... but collages is kinda where I stop... LOL, so isn't it amazing how quick things fall into place when our abilities end and our trust fall in prayer begins? :) ...So the sweetness of this shoot started to unfold as the next day I contacted Jonny Diaz manager and asked for directions on how to use his song, More Beautiful You and he answered me within 24 hours and was happy to let us use his song. :) Then I tapped on a friend of mine who is an INCREDIBLE interior designer and not only did she kind of tell me step by step how to stage the banquet, we walked around her house and she would say "you need something like this" and then she would place the chair in front of me to take with me. :) Then I came upon Thais, new friend, who is an incredible baker, and after giving her an idea of what I was looking for, she was able to create the perfect treat at our banquet. :) My mom who is just a wonderfully precious and supportive mom and let us take over her home and 4 acres for the day. :) And then on the day of the shoot the brittany and the models mom's were so indispensable! They helped w/ lighting, setting up, tearing down, cooking, wardrobe... and just all around supporting the amazingness that the shoot was becoming. LOL and of course my husband that put up with me as I was in constant creation mode for a WEEK and who helped me put together the skirts until the wee hours of the night before the shoot. *so blessed* :)

People keep asking me where did I get my inspiration for the shoot - truth: the LORD just stamped it on my heart and this passion just consumed me to fulfill this whisper He put on my heart :) And oh friends, was He ever so present. His peace and grace kept this shoot going and really helped this 12 hour shoot be a blessing full of incredible pictures on my heart and memories to remind me - it's all worth it.

It was so surreal prepping for it, executing it and completing the project that I am just now finally able to blog it, but I really wanted to share this story with yall. :) *hugs*

So thankful for all those who helped make this shoot possible - the models, their moms, the friends and family - now all family to me! :)

Hunter - Lovejoy High School Senior Pictures

So, by now y'all probably know that before we book a shoot with you, we completely require a pre-shoot consultation. This is when I come over to your home, we chat - you, me and your mom - about life, school, etc ... THEN we talk senior pics, and locations and what you want your sr pics to really represent about you. It takes 30 minutes and it is TOTALLY WORTH THE TIME! :)
So, I get to Hunter's home and we all start chatting and quickly we decide we want a cool vintage feel to the shoot. We get up to his room and it is SWEET! Like a snap shot out of the 1940's and as a gal who COMPLETELY thinks I was suppose to be born in the 1940's I just knew this was gonna be a fun shoot! :)

What is your favorite movie? That's a hard one, I LOVE movies. Some of my favorite ones are Flicka, A Cinderella Story, The Ugly Truth, No Strings Attached, and Shooter. I can't pick just one and there are so many more! {*LOVE* that}

What is your favorite song right now? For the moment, I love Till the World Ends by Britney Spears and For the First Time by The Script.

What about your favorite quote? I can never pick just one but the quote I put in my senior yearbook is “Only make moves when your heart is in it, and live by the phrase; the sky is the limit.”

What is your favorite thing to do with your friends? I love to shop and go fishing with my friends but we have fun no matter what were doing.

What are the two most important traits in a friend? I think loyalty is a big thing. You have to have a friend that is going to be there for you when you need them and someone who won’t lie to you or tell your personal business. I think the other one would have to be compassion. You can’t have a friend that only cares about how their feeling and not about you or your feelings.

What has been your great accomplishment in HS? I think my greatest accomplishment would be that I found out how strong I was. I went through a rough patch that tested my strength and I realized I can handle a lot more than I thought I could. I learned to take care of myself and not care what others think and because of that, I found great friends that make me genuinely happy and that’s all I could really ask for. {*LOVE* THAT -m. :) }

Most embarrassing moment? There was one time, my cheer squad was performing at half time but I realized I was on the wrong side of the formation and I had to like try and side-walk like inconspicuously even though it was totally obvious.

Where are you heading after high school? I will be attending Collin College after high school. I’m going to focus on the basics and then maybe work towards a career as a CSI.

What's your dream job? My dream job would be to be like a singer or a fashion designer or something cool like that but that would never happen lol. I really want to be a CSI. :)

Any advice for 2012 seniors? I’d probably just tell them to live it up! Sure, it’s important to make good grades but if your miserably your senior year trying to make a 100 on everything, it’t not worth it. You only have one senior year!

I love working with the all the lovely gals at Melissa High School - students and teachers. Shout out to the AWESOME Kay Earnhart / Tambi Arnold team - Y'ALL ROCK! :) This year we actually started a poster project and the kid are the stars of the achievement posters all over the school :) I also get the privilege of doing pics of the Homecoming Court - and that is how I officially met Stevie :)

She is a very busy gal with school and soccer. So, finding a time that worked for both of us was a little difficult. We finally found the perfect day/time on a Saturday at 6:30 in the MORNING! *go figure* ;) But her precious smile and personality just radiated even before the sun was up and it was a wonderful shoot.

Captured Whispers had the pleasure of doing sweet Katie's Senior pictures and it was soooo fun! :) We went ALL over the precious little town of Ennis, TX. And during the month of April they have a FABULOUS bluebonnet trail. So - note to mom's - plan for a perfect family date for next year - those annual bluebonnet pictures at the Ennis bluebonnet trails and then finish with an authentic drive-in movie experience at the INCREDIBLY FUN Galaxy Drive-In Movie Theatre. Less then an hour and WORTH the drive! ;)

Captured Whispers is a piece of my heart. It is hard to explain, but truly I know that one of the reasons the LORD put me on this earth was to do this. However, I know even moreso then that, that He put me on this earth to be a mom.

What a task it is. I don't know how I could do it without great mom's like yall that I can look to for advice and hug. Yall are not just clients but a piece of my heart. And if you didn't know, you are truly amazing.

You teach, you coach, you sing, you sell, you encourage, you guide, you manage, you heal, you lead, you persevere, you love so deeply and fight so strongly - you are all such an inspiration to me and I am blessed to know each of you!

JLE Sweet Sister Shoot - Captured Whispers Tween, Teen, Senior Photography

So on the Captured Whispers Fan Page we had a really fun contest! I posted details on the blog - you can see the post here. It was called Lights.Camera.FASHION :) The winner of the contest got a sweet sister shoot from Captured Whispers and the chance to walk the runway for a Brassy Blueberries Fashion Show.

Well, the show hasn't happened yet, but I PROMISE - I will post pics! :)

Anyhoo - the race was tight! I had to turn off the page to capture the totals - there were 2 gal pal groups that really were neck in neck - the final totals were like 205 to 212 or something really close like that... it was crazy fun! :)

The gals that won are adorable TWEENS! :) BFF's who even live in the same neighborhood together! :) And one of the gals is the little sister of one of the gals I did senior pictures for from Allen HS. *LOVE THAT* :)

Well, I had a blast getting to know these adorable gals and how you enjoy getting to know a little about their world too! :)

So how did you gals meet? EH - Me and L met when we were 3 when she moved to the neighborhood. We met J in kindergarten when we were on the same soccer team.

If you had to sum yall's friendship up in 3 words or less, what would they be? EH - Crazy, fun and sisterly. LB - Amazing, crazy, and funny. JG - Creative and fun.

What do y'all like to do for fun? JG - We love to hang out around the neighborhood and go swimming in the summer when we can.

So, what did y'all think about the shoot? LB - The shoot was soo soo soo much fun!!! I think captured whispers is amazing you can take awesome pics!!! I think the sweet sister shoot was so much fun and we had a blast!:))

My son met him and he showed him how to do something with an action figure - so Austin def has cool points... at least in our house. ;) He is a piece of the precious Ray family - love.that.FAMILY! :) I met them 2 years ago as their oldest entered her senior year at Lovejoy, the precious COURTNEY! :) Austin... he is the second kiddo AND the only boy. He is into football, choir, God, NOT getting his pics taken... but between me and his mamma - he is out of luck! :)

Katie Campbell - Lovejoy Highschool Senior Pictures

So, a neat piece of info on Katie is that she was one of the AMAZING GALS on the Lovejoy HS basketball team that made it to the state championship! :) *looove it* You can read more about their all around greatness HERE - in the Dallas Morning News :) She is super sweet and when her mom was booking her shoot she asked if she could book 2 shoots at the same time so her and her best friend could do their senior shoot together... ummm YES! :) It was a lot of fun and I am totally up for doing it again - so if any of you would rather do your shoot at the same time as your BFF... just ask! ;)

The 2 most important things in a great friendship would have to be trust and then of course the ability to have fun without really doing anything at all. That's love.

In 10 years i see myself as a working woman maybe starting to settle down and think about having a family and all that. But I'm just a kid. Who knows where I'll be.

I am glad captured whispers did my senior pictures because I felt like i got the chance to make a relationship with the photographer and I have always creeped on the facebook page and been amazed by the beautiful pictures.

My greatest accomplishment in high school would probably have to be making relationships and friendships with some of the greatest people. I am so blessed to have a group of girls i call my best friends and my teammates. Lady Leopard Basketball STATE FINALISTS :) we may have silver around our necks but we have hearts of gold!

My most embarrassing moment is definitely when Tanner Michaels put ketchup on my seat sophomore year and then i sat in it. I walked through the cafeteria absolutely mortified. It was all for laughs though. Hes a good kid and i think i got him back.

My advice for the 2012 seniors is to enjoy every moment. Don't worry that much about drama or boys or catty girls. Live every second like its your last. Don't stress about college admissions. You'll get in eventually and if you don't life goes on. Oh and don't party too hard. Stay classy. Don't bully the freshman but let them know who is boss. and lets hope the world doesn't end before you graduate and last but not least. attend school events. football games basketball games homecoming prom. you'll regret it if you don't. HAVE FUN.

BUT... just remember, you have PLENTY of time to straighten out your life in the future. Enjoy your senior year while you have it :)

So, now that y'all have seen all these sweet images of the beautiful Angela, I must share that Angela was also in the school play at Lovejoy this year. :) They did the play "Into the Woods", she was Jack's mom - and let me tell ya - she.was. ADORABLE! :) She was loud and animated and she had this adorably crazy accent.
Well, on the day we went to the play - it was one of those days that we were just lucky to make it and I totally forgot my camera - however, I was able to borrow this image from one of her friends.

As you look at my images and get to know my personality, you can begin to see why I was suppose to be born in the 1940's. I am just an old fashion gal at heart w/ a love for the vintage feel and manners to COME BACK and stay! :)

Well, this recipe came up on the facebook feed yesterday and for those of you not in Texas - we are having this crazy-snow-ice-everywhere-no one- can-leave-their-homes kind of week, so I have some time on my hands.;) Then when I saw it came from a recipe from the1940's I just had to try it. I substituted the oil for apple sauce, but it was easy to make using ingredients around the house. It was so gooood! In fact, it was so good, I just HAD to share the link with all of you! :)

So in Dallas, it has been INCREDIBLE when it comes to snow - these past year years. We are actually GETTING SOME! :) This year - our first snow began on Sunday and it snowed for a few days - but now, so hard to believe SIX days later, it is still on the ground! :)

Needless to say we have all had fun and my dryer has been working overtime. ;) We found an old sled I played with as a kid at my mom's house the other day. Brought it home just in time - LOL - I *know* all you gals from anywhere north of dallas will laugh, but we "iced" a vacant drive way one day and let the kids at least pretend to sled down it... it is sooo cute to see how joyful they get over such small things.:)

1-11-11 - more then just a number

Today is just plain cool due to the date, but it's more then just a cool date. Did you know, today is also - Human Trafficking Awareness Day? Until about 3 years ago, I was this precious naive Texan who had NO real clue that modern slavery existed - then I read the book Not For Sale. If you don't know anything about the subject and can stomach some seriously harsh realities - read this book.
There are families who have never known what the light of day looks like - only the inside of a mill. There are women who were and are to this day being bought and sold as property. In AMERICA ALONE - 100,000 Children are trafficked every year. And do you know, that pimps work the Super Bowl circuit to spread their nasty web of deception? I grew up watching the game for the commercials - back when Emmit Smith and Troy Aikman were becoming legends. And this year, I am praying for protection for my own city as it braces the inevitable. These women - their voices were never heard, their stories need to be told.
This is not the whispers but the pounding of my heart and Captured Whispers is about to embark on a project to help share these silenced voices.
More details to follow in the next few weeks, but know that we are not sitting still and we are proud to be a part of standing the gap for those who can not be heard.

I just love it when seniors say, "can I have pictures with my horse in it?" ....ummm, YES! :) Precious Fatima was so fun to work with. She had NEVER had her pictures done by a professional photographer, but as she thought of who she wanted to take her senior pictures, she chose Captured Whispers for the sweet vintage feel in our images. So there is this Jeep commercial - I love it!

I actually saw it during the previews of a movie and as it ended the movie theater of adults and teens was silent. It makes such a statement of who we are - who we wish to be that we all just kind of pause and wonder. What would we create if internet was gone, moving fast was gone, dare I say it... if FACEBOOK were gone.... back to the basics...
Would we be happier? What would we spend our time doing...b/c I don't know about you but sitting on the couch without a TV sounds kind of boring.
In the photography world I actually think it would be easier to be innovative if I was unplugged. Not influenced by what friends and others are shooting, but only what my body is absorbing through life... thru walking through the streets, seeing life and the raw feelings as they unfold - instead of the made up ones that are put together for must see TV and reality shows.
I feel such a strong urge to leave today and head out to CO and just be. Rediscover life unplugged... well for at least a little bit..

Resolutions {Family, Tween, Teen and HS senior Photographer}

so -- haha, as I am sitting here on January 3rd stuffing my Christmas card envelopes - yes - January 3rd and I am TOTALLY still sending them out! ;) - I am considering what I really want to resolve to do this year... and you know what it all comes down to? Be more purposeful with my time - have a schedule and just enjoy the journey -chillax a bit. :) Those sound contradictory as I write them, but I am really thinking they go together... we will see I guess. ;)

I look back at 2010 and I am super thankful. We had a super healthy year - no emergencies, no flu's, barely a sniffle. We celebrated 12 years of marriage! Our kids are growing into these amazing people! My hubby has a great job he loves. I learned I have the courage to home school my children AND go to a third world country by myself - PS - totally learned the power of those things you stick behind your ears - and I am such a HUGE fan now! ;) Captured Whispers got to capture some really sweet images this year of some really cool people. From fun loving seniors to great supportive parents. From leaders in the community to servants dedicating their all to serving our LORD in other countries. What an amazing year!

Then, over the Christmas break, we celebrated surviving this CRAZY year and economy with a 12 days of Christmas giveaway - just to say thanks for yalls love and support. Y'ALL ARE SOOOOO GREAT and supportive and we can not thank you enough for continuing to spread the word about Captured Whispers! *thank you, thank you, thank you!*

Also,this year it challenged me to see what I really want Captured Whispers to stand for. I realized that unless I am following the LORD's guidance - and no one else - I am not serving my purpose, which is why I am here... So get ready. Some things are changing at CW. We still *LOVE* photography and capturing the sweet whispers of teens, but we are about to strap down and get focused on following the vision the LORD is laying on my heart.... I know - I say focused *lightly* b/c anyone who knows me can already imagine what my sketch pad of ideas looks like. ;)

Maggie Beck - Allen HS {senior pics}

So, at Captured Whispers, we *ALWAYS* do a "pre-shoot consultation" after you book your shoot. This is when I come over to your home. We hang out, we raid closets and really prep for the shoot. Well, Maggie was super sweet, but real quiet. I left ready for her home ready for the shoot but wondering what she thought about it all. Then I come home, update the FB and happen to notice she updated hers as well - saying "fears about senior pics - gone!" Such cuteness! THIS is why we meet before shoots! To help take the stress out of photo shoots, and mom's we do the same for family shoots - and let me tell ya - I PROMISE, the tension it takes away from the shoot day is AMAZING - one.less.thing to worry about. ;)

Anyhoo - Maggie and her mom are SUCH a fun pair, and they were up for pushing the limits on what makes for a sweet senior shoot. So - we turned the radios on and headed west to some fun in the sun at the lake and a sweet junk yard. :)

Ok guys and gals - it is that time of year again. We are looking for your nominations for someone you know of or love who you feel really could use a break right now.

Last year we focused on a family who could really use a pick me up - this year, we would love to focus on a tween (or tween/teen siblings/high school senior) that could really use some encouragement. We have been blown away this year by how the gift God has given me to use for Him - photography - truly blesses and encourages those who really may not realize the beauty inside them.... This year, the precious teen(s) will get a photo shoot, possibly a make up and hair session before the shoot, a sweet teen book and more... LOL and let's not forget the sweet pics for FB! ;)

The precious Gibbs family is such a case, and I am soooo glad they found us. We had a great time! :) Jordyn and Ethan were a lot of fun and sweet Chrystal just went with the flow - which always makes for a fun shoot. Another thing that helped the shoot go well was we had a pre-shoot consultation. I had the privilege recently of capturing a precious bond of grandparents and their grandchildren. She had seen my work and wanted to make sure she was able to take advantage of our holiday promotion. We had a great time out in the field and caught some sweet whispers.
Now is such a great time to schedule those family shoots. The weather is incredible! The leaves are turning. There are lovely clouds in the sky. ...your photographer is in a great mood b/c it is her favorite time of year! ;) It is also great b/c it gives you time to get Christmas cards done and wrap all of your lovely images for family and friends. :)
We are for the first time EVER running a promotion that includes jpegs on a disc w/ the session fee for all family sessions booked this season. We want yall to have the freedom to do what you want with your images: just hold on to the jpegs, print them out at our recommended labs, make a book for the family - whatever. You don't need to worry about your wall portraits though - we are so glad yall love the art we create, it really unlocks a piece of who we are and we are glad to do it so we will continue to offer canvas and canvas collections.
Anyhoo, back to this shoot, as I watched them interact and remembered the pride and love the grandmother felt for her grand-kids, I kept being reminded of Proverbs 17:6 "Children's children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children."
I hope you see that whisper in these images.

What is a canvas collage?

One dilemma we come across with our clients is they *LOVE* their images and can't figure out which ones to put on the wall .... so we came up with a solution - canvas collages :)

I love it because it reminds me of what my life looks like. We are not some perfect, put together framed family. We are a family that smiles and can be serious and laughs and can be silly and all together - that is what equals us. :)

Texas Storms

You know, I firmly believe that until you have gone thru a TEXAS STORM it is all just rain.

In Texas, it is a SYMPHONY! The wind blows with almost a pulse to it. The clouds come in, move out. Layers and layers of colors and thickness. You know as I came home from Bolivia, I just had to marvel at the breath-taking clouds. In general they are amazing - you just have to wonder what the textures feel like - LOL, I am sure they feel like nothing, but oh, in my mind - they are BRILLIANT!

Anyhoo, we had our 2nd of I am sure to be many tornado warnings this week. The first one I was just focused on keeping my baby's safe, but by the 2nd one I had my camera out a bit.

I *LOVE* the colors of the clouds in a good storm. The grays, the blues, the creams, the greens - LOL - YES, we have green clouds here when it is about to get nasty! ;)

These are nothing fancy, but just wanted to share.

As I looked through the images tonight - I thought of John Wesley, I am reading a biography on him and it has been a neat journey learning about this leader. But he HATED the sea - the storms wigged him OUT! And then I thought of being at sea and having Jesus on the boat with you and still feeling like there is a need to worry and freak out... sometimes I wonder when the disciples really *got that Jesus was the Son of God...Luke 8 - The Message version of the Bible.

Looking at my own life, sometimes when I am freaking and go to the LORD in prayer and ask, beg and plead my issues I wonder when I lost who Christ is... what is it?? It is when I don't pay attention to the instructions in Hebrews 12:2 - my eyes veer off the race that He has marked for me and on to others tracks... *UGH* why? why can't I just stay focused at all times?

So, wow this is a long post ... :/ I leave you with this Psalm I found as I was putting together my thoughts for this blog post -

Psalm 107 (The Message)

    Oh, thank God—he's so good! His love never runs out.

Blueberries anyone?

Captured Whispers has been so blessed along our little 2 1/2 year journey. We have some of the best clients in the world, photographing some BEAUTIFUL families and seniors, we are meeting some incredible people, and learning a few things along the way, we hope. ;)

The Mitchell's in Bolivia

Meet the Mitchell's.

They are this adorable family - in love with each other and life and serving the LORD. They have this adorable little one of their own - sweet Maddy and soon they will have MANY more, as they leave in November to go be house parents for Casa De Amor. You might remember I was able to visit an orphanage earlier this summer, it is the same place - you can read more about it HERE and HERE.

I really admire their hearts. They felt the call to go serve on the mission field and from that moment on they started searching and praying for God's guidance. They thought they were to head to Africa, but after going to Bolivia they knew that was where God wanted them. Way to strong and courageous and go where God is calling you, sweet Tammy and TJ! :) They are a really sweet family and I think it will be a great match for the kids ad the staff of Casa De Amor. The Perfect Day - being a part of an Acts 2 church...

Do you ever have moments where you are like, "this day was so wonderful it must be a dream"?

Well, my family did this past Saturday. The small group at our church that we are apart of decided to all get together for a back to school party at one of the family's homes. It was incredible! You looked around and there were families everywhere - mom's laughing about mom stuff ;) Dad's jumping in the lake with their kiddos and everyone just enjoying being around each other.

What a blessing it was. Glad I brought my camera, just grabbing some images as I enjoyed the time. LOL on a side note - really thinking hard about getting a cute purse-sized point and shoot camera as 1/2 these images were taken with a sweet friends point and shoot. ;) *thanks SUMMER* :)

My quiet time this week keeps going back to the oneness our family shared with each other and others. It was magical or as we Christians say and know - you could feel the presence of the Holy Spirit among us. Do you know that same class did the same thing last year but we decided at the last minute not to go because surely no one would want to hang out with us and sure that they would be judging us... what a blessing we missed out on because we assumed the worst. *ugh* I am so thankful that wasn't the case - AT ALL - and so happy to be a part of such a fun church family... a group that cares about us and want help us be all we can be in Christ. A group that has kids my kids ages and enjoys playing together and now when they see each other at church they have someone to sit with and talk about first day of school stuff.

You know, I have quite a few friends who never go to church, and do you know why they don't go to church? Because they are sure they will be judged. Why wake up early on a Sunday and waste 2 hours being judged when they can sleep in and read the paper? Doesn't that break your heart? There is even more though... every one of them feels sooo alone. I keep inviting them to church, to come ck out our small group but they won't budge. I am loving them, going to coffee with them and praying for their hearts to melt. What a blessing they are missing out on and they don't even know it yet.

So thankful the first church in Acts 2 set such a good example in what it means to be a family in Christ.

First Day Photo

Snap a picture in front of your house of your school-aged children holding a piece of paper with the number of their grade on the first day of school each year, and later compile the pictures into a “first day of school through the years” album.

Note: If you are reading this after your child’s first day of school this year, take it tomorrow morning…no one will ever know it was a few days late!

Remember the story about E from Bolivia?

I know I have been quiet w/ my thoughts on Bolivia. I am so *NOT* a good blogger, but I did want to go ahead and finish this story on E real quick.
This is a pic of E when she came to Casa -

She came from the most dangerous barrio in Cochabamba. We were driving by the barrio one day and Jen pointed it out to me. I asked if I could take a pic and she said no, it's just too dangerous. Can you imagine growing up in such a place?

Anyhoo - on to better things - besides stealing my heart while in Bolivia and helping me feel like I fit in. :) I have SUPER GREAT NEWS!!!! :) Her and her brother have been ADOPTED by a precious Bolivian family! :) I am sooo happy and thankful for them, I know this is just the beginning of an amazing journey the LORD has in store for them and excited to pray for them on their journey. :)

So, we have lived in Melissa, TX for almost 5 years now and we love it. It is like our own little Mayberry. It wasn't long into our stay here that we stumbled upon the library and found a sweet friend in Miss Victoria and Miss Jan. They were always quick to help us find that perfect book and we always left the library with a smile knowing someone was watching out for us.

When we heard the city was building a new library we were thrilled. Because as much as we loved that library, it.was.TINY! Like the size of a master closet in Stonebridge - and I am soooo not kidding! :) I started thinking about how new facilities need decoration and wondered if Captured Whispers could help make the decorations of the new library a reality.

Well, I am pleased to say that we were able to help and we even threw together a fun "Life in Melissa, TX" shoot to try to capture the essence of who we are in Melissa, TX. It was a lot of fun and we are honored to be a part of such a great city and glad we were able to help decorate the walls with the gift the LORD has given us. :)

The Precious Lorenzo Family - Captured Whispers - McKinney, TX Family Photographer

At the end of the school year I am juggling rushed high school senior photo shoots and orders, end of the school years for my kiddos and marketing *oh my*. I got to capture this precious family in the whirl-wind of the end of the year and *LOVED* working with this sweet family and how their images turned out. :)

After their pre-shoot consultation we decided a field shoot would be best, the greens of the field will ring true in their living room in the canvas over their fireplace. Hopefully once they get it framed and hung they will tag Captured Whispers on the fan page ;) Also, at the pre-shoot consultation I learned that this precious family goes to my church - and have already run into them since the shoot - *LOVE IT*. :D

They were a great family, such troopers - we were dealing with RAINY DAYS - and it was touch and go as we got ready for the shoot - then it just turned SUPER SUNNY! :S *LOOOOOVE me some Texas weather* ;) I knew the oldest child would be wonderful - she didn't let me down. :) I was most worried about the precious 3 year old, they are always an active ball of fun on shoots, but man - he was ready to be good and look cool for his shoot. ;)

Greetings from Bolivia

Wow, that is still so surreal, I am in Bolivia. LOL, then I think about the ladder being pulled up to my airplane to get off and the chattering of spanish and flashes of nudey videos and billboards all around and I am reminded I am DEFINITE not in Melissa, TX anymore.

Right when I got there, one of the street kids that Jen ministers to for years had died over night and the city had requested her to ID the body, submit the details and plan the burial... in all that spare time she has running an orphanage of 30+ kiddos and all that entails. I was able to go to dinner with her last night. We went to Tuesday's.... the Bolivian knock off of TGI Fridays :D and it was really nice getting to know her a little bit.

Casa De Amor has a set of triplets and they are ADORABLE! :) 3 months old and they look like a burrito at all times... well, except when I change their diapers... I can't seem to figure out the magic to the blanket burritos yet. ;) Oh, and then there is this breath-taking 3 year old names Esmeralda, but everyone calls her Esma. Her laugh is like my daughter's laugh - you just want to capture it in the air as it floats by and save it in a box for a rainy day. Esma was a street kid until a year ago... yes - that does mean she lived on the streets fending for her life at the age of 2 - and before. I can't even imagine. The picture is of her - and her mischievous smile is her stealing my water cup! :)

So many thoughts, so many more pictures to edit, but they will have to wait til tomorrow - I have got to get some sleep! :)

my school: Mckinney Boyd High School

my nickname/what my friends call me: long story. my friends think that names with three syllables are too long so they decided to change my name to simply, "Nat, " which i absolutely hate. so instead of being good friends and not calling me that disgusting name, they use it quite frequently.

*ugh* I feel for ya sweet Natalie, randomly friends will call me "Missy"... Ummm, are you kidding me? ;)

my current favorite song is: "the chain," by ingrid michaelson or "bulletproof," by la roux, which is the best car jam

the person I would like to meet: i would simply die to meet John Lasseter, the executive producer of pixar. i love all pixar movies and i would be curious to ask him where he draws for inspiration.

the magazines that i secretly love are: I secretly love national geographic for kids (is that sad?) for the puzzles. I also love The Week. it's required for school but i secretly enjoy reading it.

the last meal i made was: well it's not really a meal, but i made mint chocolate brownies, which were absolutely delicious.

my biggest accomplishment in high school so far: making national honor society, making the snare line 3 years in a row, honors band, and varsity choir on my first try.

my dream job is: i would love to work where there is music and food, which are my two favorite things in the world.

an unusual talent that i have is: i'm not sure if you would call this a talent, but i can pick up objects with my toes. you'd be surprised that it comes in handy alot. i also have a particular talent for making everything awkward. i don't know if i am just an awkward person, or i have awkwardness all around me.

One of the best things about owning my own business is the freedom to work with any and every one from high school cheerleader shoots to head shots for authors and models! :) I had the privilege recently of capturing the lovely Candace Christine Little, friend and author of Pursuit of the King - the beginning of an enchanted trilogy about a brothers quest to save the kingdom. They meet amazing characters along the way and I love how Candace uses words - they really come alive! :)

As I read Isaiah 53 this morning, I am blown away by the amazing presence and prophecy of Jesus Christ in the Old Testament.

Isaiah 53

This is a really sweet chick! :) She has a cute kiddo that is the center of her world and truly cares about people. She is one of those gals that you just kind of enjoy being around. :) I met her when Captured Whispers was doing the Melissa High School Cheerleader shoot. She was there looking at images, but, I have had the pleasure of getting to know her recently as we have been working on her model portfolio.

So, a little about the gal behind the camera for a sec..... ;) In high school I had about 3 friends, cool kids intimidated me, jocks made fun of me and everyone else just ignored - thus were the days of high school life. HOWEVER, I *LOVE* that the cool kids and jocks come to me for pictures. I get to capture their witty spirits and there hope for the future and I am not intimidated anymore... who know, I just needed a camera (and 10 yrs of growing up) to hang out with them ;)

Anyhoo, I got to work with this cool guy two times this year. He was one of my models during his junior year at Melissa High School. He is active in football and baseball and is one of those kiddos who is just kind of known throughout the community. He is a goof and that was fun to capture. He always has a very kind heart and I really enjoyed capturing that piece of him as well. Both of these images are my favorite from the shoot. I love the baseball one because you see the grown up he is trying to become and the torch he is passing on to his brother. (that is who is the background in that pic)

Leighton is off to McPherson College in McPherson, KS in early August - gotta get there quick for football training. We wish you all the best Leighton and the rest of the precious Wilson Family!

At Great Wolf Lodge, we like to say that we always put fun first. And on Friday, March 26, we're planning on some record-setting fun: We're going to attempt to break the Guinness World Record for "Longest Distance Water Sliding in 24 Hours in Multiple Venues."
All 11 Great Wolf Lodge locations will simultaneously participate in the record-breaking attempt. The Great Wolf Lodge "World's Largest Waterslide-athon" will take place over 24 consecutive hours with one designated slide per resort. Every slider who descends the designated slide will count toward breaking the record for longest distance traveled on waterslides over a 24 hour period.
The current Guinness Book of Worlds Record for this attempt was set in Germany in 2007 with a total distance of 843 miles.

Courtney's 2010 Senior Pics - Lovejoy High School

Courtney is part of an amazing group of seniors. She is part of the FIRST EVER graduating class from Lovejoy High School. And she really leaves a good impression of what the class is like. She is a good student, on the varsity volleyball team and dedicated to following her heart and faith. So much so - that she went out of her way to become a TOMS rep for her school. Do you know what TOMS is? I didn't til I met her, but it.is. COOL! :)

Our God is sooo amazing! One of my secret and long term goals in life is to put together a book of unsung heros around the world. To know them, thank them and ask for 1 sentence of wisdom they would like to pass on. WELL, let the adventures begin!!!!!!!!! :)

Captured Whispers is being sent to Bolivia. We are going to be capturing images of an orphanage, missionary families, the students at the local school and pretty much anyone and thing else that they would like me to capture. The orphanage we will be working is Casa De Amor... you can read more about them HERE. There is also a link to the right of this article that will take you to them.

I am sooo excited and really kind of nervous. ;) It will just be me and God this time, but getting to use my gift to serve Him like this is AMAZING! :D

We use it to share pics from our latest senior and family shoots. So our clients and their friends can look at their images and share their thoughts on their favorite ones. We use it share the skinny on what is coming up for Captured Whispers - our shoots, our model program, contests and most recently our FAN APPRECIATION SHOOTS.

This one was called the TOP MODEL SHOOT. It included touch ups by a makeup artist, a 15 min glamor shoot and 2 5x7's, we really just wanted to say THANK YOU for being the best fans. Y'all encourage us, share us with your friends and have helped Captured Whispers become one of the top 5 photography companies in the DFW area - THANK YOU! :) We had it at the Bird's Nest - a GREAT LOCATION for baby showers, bunko nights and small affordable weekday weddings.

It was a pleasure having all 10 ladies as our guest. We wished we could of had more, but we only had so much time. We hope to do another one soon, but if not, we will do one next year - same time... again, just in time to give hubby the *perfect* Valentine's Day gift. ;)

A Winter Wonderland - McKinney, TX Family, Children, Senior Photography

Oh WOW! So, you will never guess what God hooked the Dallas area up with.... not ice, not sleet, not hail, but SNOW! It was big and beautiful and EVERYWHERE! My kids took a ruler in the backyard and measured 11". I still can't believe it. It is all gone now, only remnants of snowmen remain, and we all rejoiced, as we are all more accustomed to green grass and wild flowers, BUT the snow was enjoyed while it was here. :)

On to why I post today.... :) You see, as it never really snows here - especially with safe roads - I decided I MUST take advantage of the snow and do a shoot for a friend for fun. She had to babysit at 9am, but was totally up for doing a shoot before then, so 7am, we are calling her saying things like, "we just passed the green barn, is that too far?" LOL :) Needless to say, we made it and had an incredible time. They even got their horse out... which I learned are MUCH harder to work with then I expected. Note: HAY is your best friend when working with horses. ;)

Giving is awesome winner

There were 6 incredible entries into this year's Giving is Awesome campaign and - let me tell ya - they all deserve to have their precious heart or moments captured.

However, the family we chose have 3 kids, and one at 7 months stopped eating, got a high fever and for the next 9 months had a feeding tube in her, so she could receive food. At the time both parents were working, but as she got sicker, the mom had to quit working. The husband works a full-time job and does as many side jobs as he can so they can almost make ends meet. So, the kids never see him.

The precious little one is now 16 months old and can still wear 3-6 months clothes. On December 7th she had surgery to have a feeding tube put in her side (I think it is called a G-tube) and as of recent there are times when she needs no tube at all.

We are going to give this family the gift of pictures this year.

WOW - it has been soooo busy around here! With families wanting photo shoots and re-orders for Christmas gifts and Christmas cards --- and my kiddos in Christmas programs and making time to make memories with them this season, I have had very little time to breathe. Don't get me wrong, I am sooo thankful for it all, but it has be busy!

On Saturday, I dropped all that busyness and joined 1000's of other photographers around the globe in a phenomenon called help-portrait (www.help-portrait.com). We spend that one day giving away our gift for free to those who could not afford us. It can be your neighbor, the homeless on the street, the cashier at Wal-Mart, whoever, but the rule was - 1. You take their pictures for free, 2. you give them their pictures for free, 3. you can't use their pictures to "build your portfolio - this is for THEM.

Well, Captured Whispers ended up with 9 other photographers and a few other volunteers up at the Samaritan Inn. It was so beautiful. The other photogs didn't know each other - I only knew most thru e-mails before Saturday, and we were all VERY DIFFERENT, but as we came together under the same banner of love - it was amazing to watch us work together! The resident's hearts still haunt my thoughts and prayers. It blows my mind how God can use a silly thing like photography to show His love. Tears come to my eyes even as I write this. I love it when the LORD shows up and for some reason I am not expecting him - it just takes my breath away.

I was going to post a group pic of us from Saturday, but in all the hustle and bustle of the day, the image was lost - but I am positive the image in our hearts will remain for a long time.

So, we found the one day the kiddos were out of school and we were able to capture their family pictures. The kiddos were so well behaved and really made this shoot super relaxed! :)

It depends -
Our average family is spending $1900 right now. That gives you gift prints and a canvas whisper for your wall (a collection of smaller canvas).
If you want larger canvas - like 30x40's and want more then 1, you will need to get at least $3500 to work with.
If you are a senior - our average senior is spending $1200.

Are there any catches?
The only catch is what is said plainly - the gift cards are for 2010 sessions only and the $50 sessions are for all family and BASIC senior sessions done between January - June 2010.

Derek is the Recreation Associate Minister up at First Baptist Church of McKinney and his wife and I did a Coach Mom class together over the fall semester. I tell ya, if you are ever looking for ways to de-clutter and organize your home, one thing at a time, COACH MOM is the book for YOU! But, I will share on that more in a different post.

I thought their outfits were great. Good colors and that denim really made the little guy's blue eyes POP! :)

The Precious Presley Family

Captured Whispers had the privilege of doing family portraits for this precious family. Melissa and Mark are such a sweet couple and the boys were real troopers. I met these guys at our church, First Baptist Church of McKinney, when we first started going there. Melissa always has a smile and hug to share and I am sooo thankful! :)

To all our soldiers - past and present

To all the amazing veterans out there - We are so thankful for all the hard work you do and energy and time you sacrifice for our freedom. To all the spouses who are left to care for the families while our loved ones are away - you are not alone, you are beautiful and your soldier can not wait to get home and wrap his arms around you. My husband serves in the US Army reserves and has been deployed twice, feel free to e-mail me anytime - I would *love* to get to know you and hear how life is going with hubby away.

Captured Whispers would love to give any soldier and their family a free 45 minute shoot and an 8x10 to have as a way of saying thank you. I know it is so little compared to what y'all do for us, but I am so grateful and want to do something.

This was a really fun family. They came ready to smile and have a good time - and that is exactly what we did! :) BUT, please continue reading... ;)

I can not stress enough the importance of making sure the outfits go together. Please note - the reds are the same red and the boys are matchy matchy, but the girls are different to some degree, but their colors still go together. *PLEASE* keep this in mind when deciding what to wear. Also - browns and navy's are making for beautiful pictures right now.

Meet the Precious Hart Family (Melissa, TX Family Photographer)

You know, I always think on how *small* Melissa, TX is and how I must know everyone, but do you know, I did not know this beautiful family until one of Senior Models referred them to me. *go 2010 Senior Model MORGAN!* :)
We had a lot of fun doing these shoots. This was the first professional pictures for their little 2 year old, so we took him out for a photo shoot all by himself - and a captured whisper came of that - please check it out below. There are 9 canvas and they are all 9" a piece. We are going all sepia as his room is done in browns and blues - I can not wait to get them up! :)
When they got married 16 yrs ago they didn't have much money to celebrate with - super simple wedding on a shoestring budget, but now the LORD has and continues to bless this family's business and they are going all out this year. I won't be at the actual wedding on the beach - they are at one of those resorts that don't allow professional photographers, but when they return we are already scheduling their bridal and engagement session - wait until you see this breath-taking wedding gown! And the bride is so cool with who she, this will be an easy photo shoot. - so be looking for more images of this couple soon... ;)

The Aston Family

We try to give back every chance we get. One of the ways we do that is by donating to the school in Melissa ISD and local foundations that support McKillop Elementary. One such foundation is the Melissa Education Foundation. They host an auction in fall and we like to donate a session and product that members will enjoy bidding for and wining.
The Aston Family won the listing last year, but due to sports schedules, full-body casts, etc.. *HAHA* we were just recently able to get together. But it was worth the wait. Other then it being a SUPER HOT TEXAS SUMMER DAY, we had a wonderful time capturing their family whispers.

Ballerina - MODEL CALL

Hey ladies,

We are looking for girls of all shapes and sizes - especially 9th-12th grade - who do ballet. Not because they have to, but because they LOVE to. We are looking to grow the ballerina project, so if that description fits you come join the FUN! :)

You will be compensated with the free ballerina model session and a free 11x14 of your favorite image - (additional prints may be purchase). It is going to be on a Sunday afternoon, October 18th, between 3-7pm - down in Dallas in the Art District. Mom's must be there.
